<image:caption>Meet Dr. Emily I’ve spent the last 20 years working with neurodivergent children and teens alongside their families and teachers. I’ve walked parents through the process of their child's diagnosis, attended hundreds of IEP meetings, and consulted with K-12 teachers, support staff, and public & private school administrators. I help parents and educators shift their mindset to discover how creating a safe relationships, supporting a child’s unique skill development, and nurturing interests fosters emotional resilience that leads to more effective learning.</image:caption>

<image:title>The Regulation Roster - The Regulation Roster will help you:</image:title>
<image:caption>Identify how students regulate themselves: Learn what to look for when observing how a student moves, communicates, and socializes with others. Organize your observations: The Regulation Roster checklist format keeps your student list (and your brain) organized! Brainstorm what your students need: You know students first need be regulated to learn. But what does that mean? This tool helps you know what to look for in student stress responses that interfere with student engagement. Connect with each student’s spark: You will have an organized list of student interests and sensory-motor needs all in one class roster, which will help you help your students get ready to learn!</image:caption>

<image:caption>I’m Dr. Emily, child psychologist and former school psychologist, and I’m here to help! As a girl growing up in North Carolina, I always wanted to be a teacher. School supplies gave me a thrill and as long as I had an organized pencil box and my Trapper Keeper was in order, life was good. I loved school so much that after college I entered graduate school to pursue a Ph.D. in School Psychology. Over the last 20 years, I have seen student learning patterns become more diverse and mental health needs become more intense. Through my work at Learn with Dr. Emily®, I help educators better understand how to support neurodivergent learners in general education classrooms. Together, we are going to merge my knowledge of child psychology with your knowledge of education to help spark learning for every neurodivergent learner.</image:caption>

<image:caption>FOR PARENTS: Dr. Emily will walk you through how anxiety impacts learning and independence for neurodivergent children and teens. She will explain why focusing on the developmental skill level of our kids, rather than their chronological age is so important when figuring out how to support them and when to step back. You will leave this workshop with more confidence in understanding your child's needs.</image:caption>

<image:caption>FOR EDUCATORS: Collaborating effectively with parents is one of the most powerful tools a school administrator has to promote student success. In this session, administrators will come to better understand student behaviors related to diagnoses of ADHD, autism, and/or learning differences and how to effectively engage in collaborative conversations with parents that balance high expectations while also honoring the individual needs of students.</image:caption>

<image:title>Dr. Emily Speaking Engagements - How Anxiety Impacts the Learning of Neurodivergent Students & How to Help</image:title>
<image:caption>FOR EDUCATORS: Many neurodivergent students have asynchronous profiles which means that they may be gifted in one area but struggle in another. This leads to a higher level of anxiety when learning compared to their neurotypical peers. Dr. Emily will walk you through understanding how variability within a child’s cognitive, memory, language, and sensorimotor development can impact their emotional regulation, executive functioning, and academic achievement. You will learn how to spot, prevent, and respond to anxiety in your students and help them emotionally regulate in order to ready their body and brain for learning.</image:caption>

<image:caption>FOR BOTH: Many autistic students are motivated to learn if their interests align with the activity, but they may struggle to get started or remain engaged when the assignment doesn’t feel relevant to them. Dr. Emily will walk us through understanding the potential variability in a student’s profile that can lead a gifted autistic student to struggle with remaining emotionally regulated due to the executive functioning demands of academic tasks. You will learn how to spot, prevent, and respond to students struggling with maintaining engagement with learning and how to help them stay connected and motivated.</image:caption>

<image:caption>FOR PARENTS: Dr. Emily will explain where anxiety comes from and why everyone seems to have more of it these days–including our kids. Learn how anxiety shows up across a child’s development, when to be concerned, and how to seek help. Better understand how our own anxiety impacts our kids and how to reduce stress for the whole family. Learn strategies to help our kids and teens better regulate their emotions and build resilience in a world where the newsreels never stop.</image:caption>

<image:title>Dr. Emily Speaking Engagements</image:title>
<image:caption>I’m Dr. Emily, child psychologist and former school psychologist and parent, and I’m here to help you! As a girl growing up in North Carolina, I always wanted to be a teacher. I really loved school. School supplies gave me a thrill and as long as I had an organized pencil box and my Trapper Keeper was in order, life was good. I loved school so much that after college I immediately entered graduate school to pursue a Ph.D. in School Psychology. At some point along the way, my passions evolved from teaching all students to helping those who struggle to learn, especially when it comes to figuring out where behavior comes from and how it interferes with learning. Over the last 20 years, I have seen student learning patterns become even more diverse in addition to an added awareness of the trauma kids’ experience and their mental health needs. I am incredibly passionate about helping parents and educators come together to support our neurodivergent kids who are growing up in a world that wasn’t built for them. We all agree that there are systemic barriers we cannot change overnight. What we can do is better understand the needs of neurodiverse learners and the relationships we create with them every day to help them access their education and the opportunities in their community. We can create change from the bottom-up as we understand, nurture, and celebrate all learners, not just the ones who fit the mold.</image:caption>

<image:title>Educator Feedback - The Regulation Roster will help you:</image:title>
<image:caption>Identify how students regulate themselves: Learn what to look for when observing how a student moves, communicates, and socializes with others. Organize your observations: The Regulation Roster checklist format keeps your student list (and your brain) organized! Brainstorm what your students need: You know your students first need be regulated to learn. But what does that mean? I’ll explain more and help you know what to look for in student stress responses that interfere with student success. Connect with each student’s spark for learning: You will have an organized list of student interests and sensory-motor needs all in one class roster, which will help you help your students get ready to learn!</image:caption>

<image:title>Online Course for Parents - Meet Dr. Emily</image:title>
<image:caption>As a child psychologist, and former school psychologist, I’m here to help! I’ve spent the last 20 years working with neurodivergent children and teens along with their families and teachers in schools and private practice. Children I have worked with over the years have taught me so much and so have their parents. Yet, I have another teacher. My son has taught me everything I didn’t learn in graduate school. I’ve sat on both sides of the IEP table, first as a school psychologist and then as a parent. I know the feeling of thinking you are out of ideas to support your child. This feeling inspired my passion for helping parents and educators collaborate so that all children can experience success. Our kids are complex. Our families are complex. There is so much information out there for parents, but we are ultimately the decision-makers of the next best step in our child’s journey. Together, I will help you find the balance between supporting your child and fostering their independence. In order to do this, we as the adults must also remain tuned in to our own mental wellness so that we can show up with the energy needed for this parenting journey. Let’s get started!</image:caption>
